Shaun Maclean Pollock - he was born in 1973,july 16 at Port Elizabeth,Cape Province, South Africa, s a retired South African cricketer who is considered a bowling all-rounder.From 2000 to 2003 he was the captain of the South African cricket team,Shaun Pollock was a fast-medium seam bowler, with the ability to deliver a quicker ball with accuracy and swing.He was a RightHand Batsman and AllRounder.He took over 400 test wickets and scored over 3,700 test runs in his 108 test matches.He announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket after his 303rd one day international match.
Pollock took over the captaincy in April 2000.After getting off to a good start as a captain he faced some disappointing series losses in his tenure.
He was eventually removed from the captaincy after South Africa's poor performance in the 2003 Cricket World Cup.Inspite of not being captain an longer he retained his place in his team.After announcing retirement He stated that "I realise I have been blessed by God and feel I have nurtured my talents to the best of my abilities."
Even Graeme Smith(Rhe present captain of SA) paid tribute to Pollock, stating "It's very important that people celebrate what he's given to South African cricket and what he's achieved as an individual."Shaun Pollock recently represented Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
Pollock took four wickets in four balls on his first appearance for Warwickshire.
He is joint 10th in the all time best ever bowler ratings in the LG ICC Ratings

Pollock mainly belongs to a family of Scottish ancestry. He is married to "Trish Lauderdale". He has 2 daughters Jemma and Georgia.
I do remember the other day as I was reading the newspaper I came accross the highlights written "The captain of SA cricket team Shaun Pollock turns to b a Father".As i went through d article i read him stating "Feels gr8 to be a father specially of a girl.. ohh sorry i could tell proud father of a girl",
and I was more wonder to see him stepping back from that particular series reasoning he wanna treasure and spent these moments with his family.
It was then when i started respecting him more.Generally & usually these kinda lengends are left unnoticed.But with due respect i would like to appreciate him for being a very good human and a very good player.
well i simply can say Shaun Pollock is one of the best cricketers to have ever played for South Africa and CHEERS to Poollock.
